Is America Readying to Launch Middle East Attack?

President Bush has quietly sent the largest armada into the Persian Gulf since the Iraq war began in 2003, when there were six carrier groups, according to DEBKAfile. If this is true, it would signify an especially large number of ships to be concentrated in one location in peacetime.

DEBKAfile’s military sources, which were not disclosed, note that the arrival of the three new American flotillas will raise to five the number of U.S. strike forces in Middle East waters – an unprecedented build-up since the crisis erupted over Iran’s nuclear program.

DEBKAfile reports this vast naval and air strength includes more than 40 carriers, warships and submarines, some of the last nuclear-armed, opposite the Islamic Republic, a concentration last seen just before the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

DEBKAfile’s military sources name the three U.S. strike forces en route to the Gulf as the USS Theodore Roosevelt , the USS Ronald Reagan and the USS Iwo Jima . Already in place are the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea opposite Iranian shores and the USS Peleliu which is cruising in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

Mainstream media blacked out coverage of these events. Click here to read the full report at DEBKAfile.

Are we about to launch a new attack on Iraq? Iran? Why do we have so many war ships clustered in the Persian Gulf? With the anniversary of 9/11 right around the corner, is there a threat of another attack in this vital election year?
