A Christian pastor plans to launch a high-profile campaign today urging believers to load up on Microsoft Corp. stock, in an attempt to force the company to “stop financing ungodly ventures,” according to a newspaper report in the Seattle Post Intelligencer.
Pastor Ken Hutcherson, who leads Antioch Bible Church in Microsoft’s hometown of Redmond, says he will create a global and powerful group to promote traditional family values, including marriage exclusively between a man and a woman, the newspaper reports.
Hutcherson said it’s not Microsoft’s job to influence the public agenda, and that it should be left to others, like him. “That’s what my job is,” he told the paper. “I’m a pastor.”
I love this. It is his job, and the job of all Christians, to influence the public agenda. Thank God for men like this who will stand up for the truth, even when it means taking on the world’s most powerful software company.
What do you think of this modern-day David and Goliath story? Would you consider joining his crusade to take a stake in Microsoft in order to steer its path? Or is this pastor too ambitious?

I applaud Pastor Ken Hutcherson on his boldness to speak out on his displeasure regarding gay rights and presenting his great idea/plan/challenge to this giant Microsoft corporation. I agree with the cause to try to present to that community what the Lord says about this error. God is very specific about what is acceptable in His sight as “an item”. He loves the people who are involved in these kinds of lifestyles; He just doesn’t love the “sin” being performed by these people.
In Genesis, you can read in chappters 1 & 2 how He made man and then woman and gave “her” to the man as a “wife”, not as a significant other or as a partner. They were blessed by God, and He told them to be fruitful, multiply, replenish (fill), subdue, and have dominion in this earth. Man and man, and woman and woman cannot make babies together in the way that God intended for children to come forth. You are welcome to refer to the following scriptures to see how God sees the matter.
See in Lev 18:22-23…it reminds us of God’s laws and commands regarding holiness and sexual morality. This segment tells us that it is a defilement and an abomination for man to lie with man or animal. And it is a perversion for woman to lie with woman or animal.
In Gal 5 around verse 16, We are encouraged to walk in the Spirit and not to fulfill the lusts of the flesh, for the spirit and flesh are opposed to each other. We are warned that we will not inherit the kingdom of God if we walk according to our flesh which includes uncleanness, lewdness, adultry, fornication, etc. Let’s be careful how we walk.
In 1 Tim around verse 9, the Bible lets us know that the Law is not made for the righteous but for the “lawless”. The lawless includes ungodly sinners, murderers, fornicators, sodomites, liars,…etc.
Looking at Rev 21:8, we see that this list of people shall have their place in the lake of fire, which is the 2nd death (this is where you get another chance to live forever and ever and ever, but you will be burning up all the time with no rest or break at any time forever and ever and ever).
These include cowards, unbelievers… the sexually immoral, sorcerers…etc.
We’ve looked at several scriptures where it is very specific about how God feels about this type of lifestyle. I believe that Rev. Hutcherson has the right to try to get the gay population saved. We, as a Christian community, should try to help all unsaved people look to the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation and for a true spiritual walk in their lives.
Rev. Hutcherson confronted Microsoft regarding its influence on public policy concerning gays and wants to involve all segments of the religious community including Catholics and Muslims. Well, as long as the unsaved people are getting saved into the family of God through the Lord, Jesus Christ and are being taught with dignity and respect that these certain lifestyles and practices are not acceptable in God’s eyes (or in our eyes), we should lay aside the religious spirits and help to run with the vision and do our part to help advance the kingdom.
Jesus taught us in Matt 13, around verse 24, that good seed was planted, but the enemy came along and planted tares along with the wheat. The Lord said to let them grow together till the harvest lest the good be uprooted with the bad; and at harvest time, He will have the reapers gather the tares and “bind” them and “burn” them, and the wheat will be gathered to His barn.
Yes, I believe all of us who understand the urgency and importance for the salvation of the unsaved should do whatever it takes, even to the taking of a stake in this Microsoft challenge as long as it is being used to help advance the kingdom for those in need of salvation and right living. We all have the right to want and/or have ambition. We just have to remember to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. When we do, all other things, including ambition, will be added unto us … but that ambition will be blessed by God, and we won’t have to worry about ever losing it. Blessings to our Father in Jesus’ name… Amen, Amen & Amen
