Hollywood’s amoral influence is at it again. Jamie-Lynn Spears, Britney Spears 16 year old little sister is pregnant. Yet again another breakdown of good role models for our nation’s teenage girls.
Jamie is one of the stars in Nickelodeon‘s Zoey 101. The show was Emmy nominated in 2005 for Outstanding Children’s Program of the year. The prophetic theme song for the program “Follow Me” was co-written by - you guessed it, Britney Spears. Jamie-Lynn is expecting a baby by her 19 year old boyfriend Casey Aldridge.
Did the producers of Nickelodeon see this coming? How do you monitor what your children are watching on television? Do you think that Britney’s self-destructive behavior played a negative role in her sister’s life? How should Christian parents talk to their children about things like this?
I sincerely hope that Nickelodeon does not support this behavior just so that they can continue to make money off of Jamie Lynn. Zoey 101 is a huge money maker for them, but our children deserve better role models. Nickelodeon has been one of the few places where they can be safe from the smut that the networks display.
I have heard talk that Nick would allow Spears’ character to be pregnant in the 5th season since the 4th season episodes are already shot and ready to air in Feb 2008. I have also heard that they want to have Linda Ellerbee do a whole show on teen pregnancy and tolerance. If so, I will definitely boycott Nickelodeon and I have already written to them to let them know it.
