Was Todd Bentley another William Branham?
William Branham was a well-known and controversial prophet from the Voice of Healing movement. His name has been used in many prophecies lately, particularly in and by prophets that attended the Lakeland Revival meetings in Florida with Canadian Evangelist Todd Bentley. Many in this generation have only heard his name, but who was Branham? Here is just a little information for you history students.
William Marrion Branham was born in Kentucky April 6, 1909. He is best known as the prophet of the Voice of Healing movement. On June 11, 1933 in Ohio he reported an encounter with an angel at a baptismal service. Many say they saw a light over his head.
In May 1946 Branham told followers the angel visited him again saying, “Do not fear. I am sent from the presence of the Almighty God to tell you that your peculiar birth and misunderstood life has been to indicate that you are to take a gift of divine healing to the peoples of the world. If you will be sincere when you pray and can get the people to believe you, nothing shall stand before your prayer, not even cancer. You will go into many parts of the earth and will pray for kings and rulers and potentates. In June that same year he launched his healing and prophetic ministry. It grew like wild fire and thousands found Jesus as their Savior. In 1947 Branham met a champion of the faith Gordon Lindsay, founder of Christ for the Nations, who became his biographer and publicist, booked his meetings and edited his Voice of Healing magazine. Later he would preach to some of the largest crowds in the world at that time, upwards of 45,000 in attendance. Lindsay wrote a best selling Christian book of his life “A Man Sent from God.”
In 1948 Pentecostal father of the faith F. F. Bosworth who wrote “Christ the Healer” met Branham in Miami Florida after he retired at 71. They were close friends and worked together in ministry until Bosworth’s death in 1958. He said of Branham “During the past few years, I have often wept for joy over God’s recent gift to the Church, of our beloved brother William Branham, with his marvelous gift of healing. This is a case of God doing exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think for I have never seen or read of anything to equal the healing ministry of William Branham.”
One of the most respected evangelist of the 20th century T. L. Osborn and wife Daisy testified to Paul and Jan Crouch on the Trinity Broadcasting Network how Brother Branham changed their lives and ministry forever. Former speaker at the Lakeland Florida Revival Prophet Paul Cain said that Branham was “the greatest prophet that ever lived.” Today many have never heard of William Branham. So was Branham the greatest prophet that ever lived? Is he our example for prophetic ministry today? Do we want a double portion of the Branham anointing prayed over us? Should those kinds of prayers even be offered?
Braham had incredible crowds attend his meetings, many prophetic words of knowledge and healings but something went wrong, terribly wrong. After reviewing his ministry I think we need to take a break and examine some of his teachings. Not only that, we should also be careful prophesying Branham’s anointing over others when we don’t even know much about him.
Unfortunately, during the latter years of Branham’s ministry he went deep into deception and thousands questioned his unscriptural teachings. Even after close friends tried to reach him, including Gordon Lindsay he stood his ground and many of his ministry associates distanced themselves.
The Voice of Healing movement was over. This is the part of the story that no one wants to remember but it proves that all of us can be deceived when we embrace supernatural experiences and angelic visitations above the written Word of God. Like healing revivalists John Alexander Dowie before him, founder of Zion, Illinois, Branham began to think that he was Elijah.
This same deceiving spirit has plagued the Pentecostals for centuries (Acts 16:16). It is a high-level occult spirit, a counterfeit of the Holy Ghost that attacks those that rise to a certain level of ministry. It covets prophetic ministry and is full of orphic, mystical and supernatural experiences. If people do not discern and defeat this spirit it takes them out, their disciples too and buffets the advancement of the Gospel of Christ.
Sadly, Branham didn’t make it. He started the race blessing the body of Christ mightily but his end proved scripturally reckless and shipwrecked. Branham’s teachings — the good, questionable and bad are well documented in his letters, books and audios. The following paragraphs outline some of the more dangerous doctrines – in his own words – that damaged Branham’s ministry beyond repair.
Branham was a “Oneness Preacher” and denied the Trinity. In his own words:
“Why don’t you examine your baptism of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and that false `trinity’ it’s so-called, which is nothing in the world but three offices of one God, titles. No, name of Father, there’s no such a thing as name, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost which is the Lord Jesus Christ.”
“…not one place in the Bible is trinity ever mentioned…It’s Catholic error and you Protestants bow to it.”
“You show me one place where one person was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost, I’ll raise my hands and say I’m a false prophet.”
Branham taught that Eve had sex with the Serpent and birthed Cain. This was his “Serpent Seed” teachings. In his own words:
“Eve’s eating was adultery with the serpent, Proverbs 30:20. Remember, he was not a snake at this point. That curse came after the act. …It was not an apple that caused Adam and Eve to realize they were naked. But it was a sex act. …The serpent was an upright handsome creature. He was, in fact, ‘the missing link’ that science even in their unspiritual wisdom, can see is missing ‘between man and monkey.’ Satan used this creature to get himself into the Human race.”
“Noah and his sons which come out, Ham, Shem, and Japheth, come out in the righteous line. How did the seed ever get over? The seed come over in the ark, just like it did in the beginning through the woman, their wives. They carried the seed of Satan through the ark, just as Eve packed the seed of Satan to give birth to Cain, through the woman.”
Branham prophesied and taught the Age would end around 1977 and usher in the Millennium. In his own words:
“That this age will end around 1977…I base this prediction on seven major continuous visions that came to me one Sunday morning in June, 1933.”
“So I repeat, I sincerely believe and maintain as a private student of the Word, along with divine inspiration that 1977 ought to terminate the world systems and usher in the millennium.”
Beginning in 1963 Branham taught that he (not Jesus) was given permission by seven angels to open the Seven Seals of Revelation. In his own words:
“We find out that during that time I saw seven angels in a form of a pyramid that swept down and picked me up. And I was brought east to open the Seven Seals for God.”
Unfortunately these are only a few erroneous teachings that came from esoteric experiences through visions, angelic visitations and encounters with the supernatural, not from the written Word of God. It’s interesting that David Koresh, leader of the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas, said he too was called to open the seven seals of Revelation. The teaching of special privilege and revelation, angelic visitations and assignments, mystical experiences and exceptional relationships with God and angels has caused many to err.
After reading just a few of Branham’s teachings, one should be all the more careful about throwing Branham’s name around at revival meetings, prophesying a “double portion” of his anointing and especially encouraging angelic visitations. It seems to me most would rather want a double portion of the Holy Spirit (if that’s even necessary) more than any angel, healing evangelist’s or dead prophet’s anointing. Yes, we can learn some good things from Branham’s early ministry, be respectful and forgiving of his Scriptural errors. But we must also learn from his mistakes so they are not repeated again. “Trying the spirits” by using the written Word of God to confirm what we hear, see and experience is not being judgmental. On the contrary trying the spirits is rock-solid Scriptural (1 John 4:1).
How does Branham’s story end? On Christmas Eve December 24, 1965 he died of injuries from a car accident in Tucson, Ariz. after being hit head on by a drunk driver.

I suggest that You read the Book of Revelation Chapter 5
In Verse 3 it says that no man in heaven,earth or under the earth was worthy to open the book (of the seven seals) or to look to the book.
So John (the revelator) wept.
In verse 5,it says:
“And one of the elders saith unto me,Weep not:behold,the Lion of the tribe of Judah,the Root of David,hath prevailed to open the book,and to loose the seven seals thereof”
In chapter 9 the four beasts and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb singing a new song:”Thou art worhty to take the book ,and to open the seals thereof:for thou was slained and has redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation.
Be careful that You will not honor a man’s saying above the Word of God!
We must spend time in the secret place with the Lord!
We must be a passionate bride!
That’s when the Lord takes us to the dephts of His heart and We become one with Him!
This is not a one time experience!-We must cultivate that intimacy daily.Then We will be able to see everything the way He does and to feel what Jesus feels for this broken world!

Why is it so hard for Gods children to see the truth? Maybe it’s because they don’t really know the Word ( JESUS ) they only know a form of Godliness.
I am just a simple man that can not do nothing else but believe the word of God in it’s fullnest. As I read the word of God it tells me that He never changes that He is the same yesterday today and forever and I praise Him for that, because I can rest upon that.Since God can not learn anymore or change anymore,than I have to believe that the way He did things before that it will always be the same way He will act in the future as He did in the past.Brothers I beseach you to yield to the Holy Spirt and If you do not believe in Brother William Marrion Branham than you must look for another man that will fit into Malachi 4:5 because rememer God does not change, and if He sent John to prepare His first comming than He will send another man to prepare His second comming, just like He promised in Malachi 4:5 He can not do it any different, other wise He made a mistake the first time and He no longer would qualify for a God. Brothers and if you do believe in William Marrion Branham’s teaching obey his teaching and do not argue with the word of God or try to convince anyone for that is God’s Job.

“I’m not Oneness. Not at all. I’m not trinity either. I’m a Christian. I believe in God. I believe in God manifested in three offices.”
“I know that I’m talking in here even to trinitarian ministers. And my brethren, I do not say this…to hurt. I’m a trinitarian too; I believe in the trinity, the three attributes of God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, but not three Gods.”
The quotes you give don’t prove that William Branham was Oneness nor does it show that he denied the true Biblical concept of the Trinity. He only denies the misconception that God is three Divine Persons or Beings making Him Three Gods.

Just by researching William Branham’s life will show the significant difference. You may not agree with his doctrines, but his character speaks volumes and easily shows he does not fit the modern day ministries that try to glean from his authenticacy in order to boost their charlatan ways.
well friends,i’v known this Great Prophet for 4 years now,& there is no way absolutely no way we can deny Gods Words.THRUOGH HIS MOUTH.
Personally when i was growing in spirit as a young boy,i would read the bioble so hard and pray so much,that i feel guilty i’m failing to reach those levels,and & most of those who know me can deny if i explain how much i prayed.
i reached a point when i would go to church & find the Pastors/Priests/Evangilist wohoever’s sermons not satisfying i changed denominations so much & dont want top list them,something was still lacking,i could feel it.
i cried to the Lord where then is the true Church of God.7 found no answer,i got convinced no one is believing fully & should not go to Church & gave up,
i prayed hard If there is any true church you God WILL sent ME there.
A bout 6 Months later i visited my aunt who believes so much in Branham,Oh PRAISE God i found one of those false prophets,that we had been warned by Jesus,so real to me,it was that Branham Was a false prohet,itried to turn back my aunt in the right direction but never gave me a chance to utter any objection,2 years down the line I got so much courage to face the Pastor to warn him he was misleading his flock,,Great is the Lord
Before I could see him the next Sunday,Idont know how i opened THE BRANHAM website & i was sruck,so much struck in my soul tha t the man was Gods Direct MESSANGER.iCOULD NOT DENY IT now far far more real a prophet tthan my first thought,my BROther tried to change me back but i found it impossible to disbelieve God’s PROPHET and got baptised thi year-4 years after hearing about the prophet.

Many shall be deceived in the last days, if it were posssible the elect would be deceived. Deep down in my heart Bro. Braham is a true Messenger that fulfils mal. 4:5. It takes a man that has the seed (ie predestinated soul) for the light to struck and say yes this is it. Has anybody ever imagined if Jesus was to come in our time the same way will so many ague and miss Him, a child born in the least town of Jeruselem - Bethelehem, in a manger calling himself Kings of Kings…Brother so many would have miss Him. Even so our days I take it as a normal thing even though Bro Braham have all the signs of mal 4 and rev. 10:7. they cant see it cos they have been made to believe a dellusion. You cant change the word of God. That trumpet is still sounding, take heed!!!!!
Jesus was performing different miracles in His days. Immediately he started saying I am the Light, the truth and the way.. no one goes to my father except through me. All that followed him left except the disciples cos the mysteries was too high for them.
Bro Branham preached over 1,100 recorded sermons and many others not recorded. I don’t understand how people take a few quotes of some of his sermons and get to understand his doctrine. In their quest to prove that they understand his teachings some make themselves a miserable lot. It is not worth the effort - my brothers i think it would be better to believe what your pastor tells you and let those who believe in Bro Branham’s message alone!

I’m sure you mean well by wanting to show error in another man’s ministry that you find difficult to understand. Please don’t make the mistake of falling into error yourself by writing statements about a man of God that are false. You wrote in your article that ‘Branham began to think he was Elijah’ Did you check it out? If you did, you would find out that he did not say that, and it is on record. He stated that he would actually leave the ministry if the ‘people’ did not stop calling him Elijah. You, like so many ministers, who were not there at the time of his ministry and did not know the man personally have misunderstood William Branham. In your attempts to show that William Branham ‘went into deep deception’ you have fallen into deep deception yourself by not checking the facts. You have taken his words out of context and have missed the point of this man’s ministry and his message. Therefore by your motive of wanting to show error, you have been a pen in the hand of the enemy and not of God by deceiving the very people you are trying to protect. It is only fair that you write a retraction to some of the false statements you made about William Branham. At the least, please make sure your statements are correct by checking them out thoroughly.

Any little 5 year-old child would certainly not be acquainted to the word “KNEW”, how much more “intercourse”. Did you, I wonder? But that’s not my point. My point is, the Word of God is not as easy to be understood as you think. Even the all wise and super spiritual Jewish scribes, rabbis and pharisees and high priest of Israel failed to “see” the first coming of their very own Messiah, the promise seed of Abraham. So no, I dont believe Eve ate a special physical sugar sweet fruit or fruit of any sort. Eve was beguiled and deceived by the Serpent. Have we ever wonder why God is so harsh on adulteress or fornicators throughout the ENTIRE Bible? Things are not as literal as you seem.

The “Generation of Serpent” or the “Serpent’s Seed” is a Revelation.
I am a born again, spirit filled, baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, Christian. I am a child of the most high God. I am a sinner. I know that the one and only way to have eternal life is through my savior, Jesus Christ.
I believe that Brother Branham was a Christian man as well. I believe that he also has everlasting life as my brother in Christ. However, I do not believe that he should be lifted up and worshiped as he is today. My family attends a church where Brother Branham’s tapes are played every Sunday. My family also has the framed picture of Brother Branham in their living room. When they discuss the Bible and Jesus’s teachings, they do not say, “God’s word says this, or Jesus says this. . . .” Instead, they say, “Brother Branham says not to do this, or Brother Branham says this. . . ” I have a problem when Christians put their faith and trust in a man rather than in their savior.
I find it very hard to believe that my Jesus didn’t mention William Branham’s name or David Koresh for that matter, in my Bible.
Don’t get me wrong, I do believe Brother Branham was a spiritual leader of his time. His relationship with Jesus Christ and his walk is something that I strive to have. However, I do believe that his followers have made him out to be something that he is not.
One more question, if one of Brother Branham’s prophesies was that California would fall into the ocean before Billy Paul, his son, was an old man, how come this has not come to pass yet. Billy Paul is in his 80’s, and by any one’s standards, that is an old man!

Greetings in the Name O f Jesus. I am a beliver of God´s word that was brought trough the Ministry Of Brother Branham. It surprised me that after more than forty years of his passing SATAN is using many ways, most of his power and people, big amount of financial resources to dscredit the FACT that God visited THIS generation when HE sent A PROPHET. I would be an anti CHrist If I said Bro Branham was God, that is unfair, but his ministry reflected God´s Mind for the chosen ones of the last day.
Everyone, (including me) must have OWN DISCERNMENT concernig what took place when this man of God carried one that ministry assigned by God. I would not dare to REPEAT (neither you)what a I read in a critical book, not knowing for myself what is true or what is wrong. I invited everyone against the MESSAGE TO GO BACK And READ IT And PLAY SOME TAPES SOMETIMES, UNDER A CLEAN SPIRIT, ASKING ,GOD YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED.

i, my self have been a follower of the messsage of the hour for so many years. there has been so much confusion within the message churches themselves, which has led many to split and start their own congregations which belive in different things from the founder. there has been confusions with the message , marriage and divorce which has caused alot of them to split and began teaching that the brothers can marry more than one wife.and it is happening. bro branham was a man of god who at one time god used mightly.his followers are very lost instead of looking up to god they now look to a man. they are no different from the world. they should focus on the bible and stop saying bro branham said!! and being too legalistic. god help us.

Some has pictures, calendars all with huge frames in their houses, their eyes has shifted away from God to a man. Just pray, that is all you have to do, talk to God and He will guide you.

I have spent many hours and days in prayer asking that God would give me a revalation. This is what my family has said that I need in order to better understand the “message of the hour.” I have spent so much time reading in each of Brother Branham’s books, listened to tapes of his sermons, read his question and answer volumes as well as studying his different documents.
Yesterday while I was in prayer at my home, God revealed something to me that basically “knocked me off of my feet.” I did not hear an audible voice as they show you in movies, but He revealed to me that I need to spend time in HIS word rather than the words of a man. He revealed to me to get rid of the books and spend my time studying my BIBLE which is HIS word instead of spending all of my time trying to decide whether this William M. Branham is truly a prophet of today’s time.
After this, I had a complete peace with my walk and my relationship with God. I wasn’t looking for an answer at that moment, instead trusting that God would give me an answer when He felt I was ready. I no longer study Brother Branham’s books or listen to his tapes. Instead, I spend my time reading my Bible and trying my hardest to be a true “Christian” or ‘LITTLE CHRIST” instead of a FOLLOWER OF AN EARTHLY MAN.
Please don’t think I am being disrespectful to the Late Brother Branham.
HOWEVER, HE IS DEAD. . . MY GOD IS ALIVE!!!!!!!

I see hypocrisy here in an effort to make William Branham look like a false prophet. These are his words concerning his prediction of the world coming to an end in 1977

And the second coming, or the rapture of Christ, might come anytime. Now, I could miss that a year; I can miss it twenty years, I could miss it a hundred years. I don’t know where. But I just predict that according to a vision He showed me, and taking the time, the way it’s progressing, I say it’ll be sometime between ‘33 and ‘77. At–at least, this great nation is going to strike a war that’s going to blow it to bits. See? Now, that’s pretty close; it’s awful close. And I could be wrong; I’m predicting. Why is it people hate br Branham so much? Just because br Branham said the Word of God need no private interprator but God is His own interprator. Just because he told us that nothing can enter Heaven except perfect love. just because he said when love is projected grace takes over. Brother Branham just taught the Word and He tought it sencerely than many preachers thats why I like to listen to His sermons.
These days people are compromising God’s Word but Br Branham during his time didn’t.

By this will all men know that ye are my disciples…when you love one another! Malachi 4 was sent to restore back the faith of the early church to the omega church; while it is not good to give more glory to the man, it is also not good to pollute other people’s minds with statements that are clearly based on ignorance or irrational judgement. If brother Branham were here, he won’t go for any of the 2 kinds; friends, if William Branham lived a life of Christ like no other in our generation then it is worth humbling ourselves and catching the TRUE message of the End TIme! That is CHRIST wants to veil Himself in US! Don’t miss it! As soon as you become a VEIL, then you will be REJECTED (just like He was) because it’ll be the SAME Spirit living in YOU! That’s all about God’s Prophet William Branham. He is NOT responsible for what some have made him (like a god, or as though they follow a cult) because he never taught that. He only came to fulfill scripture (Mal 4:5-6; St. Luke 17:30; Rev. 10:7 and others).
I know you may say where is his name in the scriptures but do you know that the name Jesus was never mentioned in the Old Testament, which held prophesy about His first Coming? Do you also know that there is some scripture(s) that you also must fulfill? If yes, then why couldn’t someone fulfill the ministry of Mal. 4 in the last days? It means you haven’t studied the Bible enough to know that it is still evolving. Each day a prophecy is fulfilled, and there’s even more for the near future. Just surrender to HIM, who is the guide (not William Branham) and you would understand the ministry of this humble Prophet.
Lastly, for your information, I am 100% sure that all those who have either formed a cult around William Branham or are set out to malign him before other people, both groups are not even aware of what God is currently doing on the earth! Otherwise they wouldn’t even have time to do what they’re doing. But the true Bride(church) of Christ, not a church or organization, but elected children of God around the world know what is going on right now. Just hold on a little while and ONCE MORE the WORLD WOULD HEAR DIRECT FROM GOD AS IT DID AT PENTECOST, but only this time it would be for JUDGEMENT because MERCY has already gone forth.

Its wonderful how God has given us the freedom of choice so we can choose as we are led to believe. In the days of Noah so will it be in the last days. Brother Branham is one of the most humblest and sincerest servant of God that i have ever come across and the fact that he never spoke badly about anyone but rather against the system. He loved the people but condemned their denominational systems.
His life portrayed a real humble servant of God and if we question the way he died, well, its a parallel to our Lord Jesus who died outside the gates with thieves and is there anything dignified about it? hung on the cross nearly naked and people spitting on Him, pierced His hands and speared His side. To that end, let us who are alive, take a good inventory of our lives and look within our own selves to see that our lives line up with the Word of God. God is the Judge.We are known by the fruit of our behaviour, how we speak,dress and walk and the company that we keep. As such, we are supposed to be the living epistles of Jesus Christ read by all men. Jesus said, let him who is innocent and sinless cast the first stone! so just be real humble, live holy lives because God is more than able to speak directly to us from Heaven. Even then, i am sure some people will still not believe but be skeptical. Test everything by the Word of God.
I am convinced and truly believe that William Branham is the Prophet of God for this last gentile age Laodicea and no one needs to defend his position because God is more than able to do that without anyone’s help!!!
If people do not see this, then it was predestined for them not to and that is Biblical.
Let us therefore aspire to be more like Jesus as His appearing is very soon to take place.

I don’t believe you are being fair to Branham in few key areas:
1. Branham stated to Paul Cain that his FOLLOWERS were claiming he was Elijah and he couldn’t make them stop. Branham himself opposed this.
2. Branham did not claim that his teachings (genuinely questionable) were revelatory - they did not have the authority of his visions.
3. “Branham prophesied and taught the Age would end around 1977 and usher in the Millennium. In his own words:
“That this age will end around 1977…I base this prediction on seven major continuous visions that came to me one Sunday morning in June, 1933.”
“So I repeat, I sincerely believe and maintain as a private student of the Word, along with divine inspiration that 1977 ought to terminate the world systems and usher in the millennium.””
In 1977, Angels began appearing to Roland Buck in Boise, Idaho, with a number of messages that have all proven true so far. Some have interpreted this as the fulfilment of Branham’s word. What we THINK is meant by “the end of the age” and what GOD means, and how long such a process takes, can be very different.
4. Branham reported events of a revelatory experience - interpreting this as Branham putting himself in Jesus’ place is unfair. “Beginning in 1963 Branham taught that he (not Jesus) was given permission by seven angels to open the Seven Seals of Revelation. In his own words:
“We find out that during that time I saw seven angels in a form of a pyramid that swept down and picked me up. And I was brought east to open the Seven Seals for God.””
This is not necessarily teaching, but reporting something that needs interpretation.
Branham was a true prophet. He carried some of the religious ideas he had been brought up with throughout his life, and made mistakes based on these. He was very careful to separate the revelations from his beliefs.
It could be argued that he died because of these errors. He spoke a curse over his life to Paul Cain, when he declared he couldn’t stop his followers promoting him as Elijah. He said: “God will take me home early. He will not have anyone stealing His glory.”
This si clearly NOT the loving Father Heart of God, yet I believe this gave the enemy a doorway to prematurely attack Branham and take him out.
if you look at his prediction not profesy,saying the end of the laodicea,make youre theology usefull and search what happened.1977 that was when the ministry of brother branham took hold of the ‘elects’ lifes that was when people left the harlot being denominations and took their crosses and followed christ.that was the end of laodicea for those who followed the massenger of their hour.god bless you as i ask you to repent from theology because at the end you will only be like those inteligent hypocrits
