Happy 4th of July - America is distinctly American by Jonas Clark

America does not have a fragmented multicultural society. It is uniquely and distinctly American.

Americans represent a culture founded upon Christian service, Christian values and Christian traditions. We observe July 4th, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, not Buddha’s Nirvana Day. Nirvana celebrates Buddha’s supposed ascension from one state of spiritual being to another, elevated state. We celebrate Labor Day not the pagan Summer Solstice during which observers honors the sun god by leaping across bonfires to promote animals and crop fertility.

Sadly, it seems every tradition that has anchored our great nation to Christian family values is ether ignored, attacked, devalued or feigned by those that hate the God of the Bible. American culture, my friends, came about through our love for Christ and adherence to the Word of God, the Ten Commandments and biblical Christian values. So what can you and I, the average Christian believer, do to combat those who continue to challenge our Kingdom culture?

One thing we can do is celebrate with our traditional American holidays – and keep them American and Christian. Fire up that barbeque grill, cook those hamburgers and hotdogs, light those sparklers and celebrate our great nation while giving the God of the Bible thanks for His blessings on our country.

Get your children away from the video games and take them “out to the ball game.” Put a Ten Commandments poster up in your house, proudly display the American flag, and honor our American military whenever you have a chance. Plug into a good Bible-believing church and put Christ first in your life. During Thanksgiving cook the biggest, fattest turkey you can find and serve it with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. And before you eat, gather the family around and give God thanks for all He has done in our country. When Resurrection Sunday comes, don’t work unless it’s absolutely necessary. Instead, go to church and celebrate the greatest event in the history of mankind, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.

Well, Apostle Jonas hits the nail on the head once again! This article should be archived in all of American Journalism so that every time each one of these holidays comes around, these words could be a reminder for everyone alive in the USA, not just the “Voice” community. For as soon as any one of these holidays has come and gone, how soon we forget. In my opinion, a sad point is… we should not just remember these facts on the holidays… we should live them every day of our lives. If we would live up to the standards of the Constitution, which, since its beginning, was based on Christian values and morals, we would then be living the Bible; and this lifestyle would be pleasing to the Lord our God. Are we doing this? If we are, are we doing it successfully? Our flesh wants to be man pleasers rather than pleasers of God. So things get changed and we re-evaluate and re-interpreted as to what the Constitution means or what it is trying to say. When we try to change God’s ways and thoughts, there are consequences. When we act like our forefathers whose actions are made reference to in the Old Testament, when they would constantly turn away from God and follow after their own gods, He warned of visiting the iniquities of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations. People have mixed thoughts and teachings about this passage too (Exed 20:4-6), but God and His word cannot lie. If there is no change in ungodly teachings from the fathers to their sons, then everybody just continues to sin generation after generation. Thank God that He sees and knows the heart. Thank God somebody out of the generations heard His voice and agreed to obey so things would be different in his life and in the lives of his loved ones who also heard and obeyed. Maggie
