Gay Marriage ban overturned by activist Judges in California

Just moments ago the California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage in a ruling that would allow same-sex couple in nation’s largest state to get legally married.

This seems to be a monumental victory for the gay rights movement. Supporters of gay marriage cried and rejoiced as the ruling was made known. “Domestic partnerships are not a good enough substitute for marriage,” the justices ruled 4-3 in an opinion written by Chief Justice Ron George.

“Our state now recognizes that an individual’s capacity to establish a loving and long-term committed relationship with another person and responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual’s sexual orientation,” the court wrote.

“Today the California Supreme Court took a giant leap to ensure that everybody — not just in the state of California, but throughout the country — will have equal treatment under the law,” said City Attorney Dennis Herrera, who argued the case for San Francisco.

With this ruling, California becomes the second state after Massachusetts where gay and lesbian residents can marry.

“What happens in California, either way, will have a huge impact around the nation. It will set the tone,” said Geoffrey Kors, executive director of the gay rights group Equality California.

Is this Judicial tyranny, where a few overturn the democratic vote of the people? This makes one wonder whatever happened to “We the people.”

What do you think? Will your State be next?

Read the California constitution. You will note that there are no clauses referring to to the qualifications of marraige. Therefore the court acted as it chould. If the people of California wish to amend their constituion, then so be it, as modern state and federal constitutional precendent could negate the courts decision. But to call this ruling “activist” is just stupid, completely ignorant of American constitutional law. It was a strict constitutional ruling.

In response to this article, I would strongly agree with the writer that gay marriage is legally immoral. In addition, gay marraige should be banned off the face of the earth. In my opinion, only an ignorant imbecile would encourage such disrepute. Having same-sex couples is an absolutely unpleasant sight both physically and spirituallly. You might as well go and get a petaphile run as president becuase it only shows just how crazy and havoc things are becoming in our nation. I can understand that other peoople see this differently, but I am a Christain and those unrighteous opinions don’t faze me. However, those of the same belief who don’t take a stand are only detouring the vast issue. We can not afford to sit back sippin on kool-aid under the shade while life runs by. Why? Because the same shade that covers us while we do nothing only blocks us from the truth which is the main isssue; and the same kool-aid that we partake of only fills us up of things that do not nourish us and hinders us from being equipped. Selah.

“We the people” who claim to be christian should not take it upon ourselves to condemn others for finding happiness in a same sex marriage. Judgement day will come for them and if it is truly a sin they will suffer the consequences.
