Senator Orin Hatch, vice chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, is calling for a presidential battle — but he’s also calling for a McCain-Palin victory.

In one corner we have Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Together, they make quite a pair. An incredibly liberal pair, Hatch says.
“Barack Obama — the freshman senator and former neighborhood organizer — was named the #1 most liberal Senator by the non-partisan National Journal. His running mate Joe Biden was ranked #3. Between Obama and Biden, we can count on an agenda of increased taxes and out-of-control spending.
“And when it comes to securing America’s energy future, Obama-Biden falls flat. This is the most important issue for Americans trying to fill their tanks and feed the kids. Yet there is no reason to believe that Obama and Biden will fight for the drilling that will bring down the cost of a tank of gas.
In the other corner, we have John McCain and Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska In my view, McCain knocked Obama out with this one.
Sarah Palin is a serious conservative. She’s a reformer. She’s a mother of five. As Vice President she would have more executive experience than presidential aspirant Barack Obama. And as the second woman ever to be a major party nominee for Vice President, her nomination represents a historic opportunity.
This is what Dan Fagan, an Anchorage radio talk show host said about her last year.
“She’s as Alaskan as you can get…She’s a hockey mom, she lives on a lake, she ice fishes, she snowmobiles, she hunts, she’s an NRA member, she has a float plane, and her husband works for BP on the North Slope.”
In Hatch’s view, that is hard to beat.
