Seasonal Affective Disorder: Dealing With SAD

Are you enjoying the new winter holiday season? Seasonal change is joyous for most, for others its sad. Have you noticed a mood change this time of year in anybody you know? Does the gloom reoccur at the same time every year? It seems holiday blues come around this time of year because of a winter depression that affects an estimated half a million people between December and February says the Seasonal Affective Disorder Association. SAD says it has to do with the loss of light during the winter months. Seemingly winter depression is more common in women than men but the older you get the risk of depression decreases. Symptoms vary among the smitten but include avoidance of social contact, increased feelings of rejection, difficulty concentrating, oversleeping, a drop in energy, weight gain and depression. The cure, sunshine! Do you deal with SAD this time of year? Please let us know how do you overcome? (Philippians 4:13)
