Breaking the cycle of weariness and defeat in your life

Have you ever been sick and tired of being sick? You know that feeling when it seems you are never going to get over a cold and you are so tired you just don’t think you can take it anymore. You’ve been to the doctor; the medicine didn’t really help. You’ve coughed until your sides ache. You’ve blown your nose until it’s red and sore. You’ve lost sleep, work, and your sense of humor. The worst part is that you’re completely helpless against that cold.

In 1993, that was the story of my life. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I felt like everything about my life was going in a pointless circle. I felt like one day I was on top of the world and the next I was flat on the floor. I had just enough faith to get from one week to the next, my emotions always getting the better of me. My life was in a never-ending tailspin. I wanted the cycle to end, but it seemed the more I tried the more tired I got. I felt hopeless.

Breaking the cycle of weariness and defeat in your lifeAre you at that place in your life? That place where it seems like everything is stuck, like there’s a ceiling over your life and you can only rise so far before something knocks you back down again? You’ve pushed every button and pulled ever lever and nothing happens, or things just get worse. Maybe your marriage seems hopeless. Maybe you are overwhelmed in your finances and can’t see a way out. Maybe you feel like you are stuck in a dead end job.

I want to focus on the power change. What does it take to change? It is even possible for people to truly change? Let me testify to you today that all things are possible to him who believes (Mark 9:23).

Change is possible. You don’t have to live your life a victim of your vicious past, a prisoner of your present circumstances, or a slave to your situation. God wants to and can bring you out! I know because His Word says so and because I’ve lived it. He brought me out and I now walk in the greatest peace I have ever known.

On February 22, 1993, my life changed. In less than one hour, I went from going nowhere and doing nothing to beginning a process of change that would revolutionize my life forever. We’ll dig more into what actually happened in upcoming issues, but know this, change can happen! There is hope. The Bible says that faith is the substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1). Maybe you don’t think you have enough faith to smile, but let me tell you, there is hope.

I believe there are people reading this article right now who are sick and tired of being sick and tired. You want that cycle of helplessness and hopelessness to break in your life. If that’s you, pray this prayer:

Father God, I thank You that You are more than enough for every situation I’m going through. Lord, I want Your Truth in my life no matter what. No matter if it disagrees with what I’ve always heard. No matter if it means I’ll have to change. No matter what, I want the TRUTH! I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. God, change me into what You designed me to be! I give up control of my own life and put my trust in YOU! I thank You for my victory in advance! In Jesus name, Amen!

The first step to all change is as simple as making a decision. If you just prayed that prayer, you have made the first step towards change. There will be many other steps before your reach the full manifestation of change in your life, but know that change is on the way!
