Barr: Congress Should Vote “No” on Bailout
Written By: Jennifer LeClaireOnce again speaking contrary to the mainline candidates, the Libertarian Party’s Bob Barr is arguing that congress should vote against the $700 billion bill to bail out the financial services sector.

“The leaders of both the Republican and Democratic Parties are rushing ahead with their $700 billion bill,” Barr says. “Without a single hearing and without considering other solutions, Congress is preparing to put the typical American family on the hook for more than $8,000. Legislators in both parties need to stand up for the American people and say no.”

Barr asks two thoughtful questions: If bailouts are the answer, why hasn’t the $300 billion housing bailout worked? What of the $100 or more billion bailout of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae?

Bunning Floor Speech On Wall Street Bailout Proposal
Written By: AdministratorThank you, Mr. President. I rise to speak about the current economic situation and the bailout bill that will soon be coming to the Senate floor.

Let me start by saying that I am just as concerned about what is going on in the financial markets and the economy as everyone else. I know there are extreme tensions in the credit markets and those problems could soon have an impact on businesses and individuals who had nothing to do with the mortgage mess. However, I do not agree that the bill coming to the Senate will fix those problems.

I also strongly disagree with the Senators who have come to the floor and declared that this crisis is a failure of the free markets. No, the root of this crisis is a failure of government. It comes from a failure of regulation and, most importantly, monetary policy. In the long term we certainly need to update our financial regulation to reflect the realities of our modern economy, but it is just plain wrong to blame failures of our regulations and regulators on the markets.

No to Fast Track Banking Bailout: Let free market capitalism run its course.

Secretary of Treasury Paulsen speaks to Press ConferenceIs the media telling the truth about the dynamic dual Paulson and Bernanke’s bailout? Do they even know the truth? Do our leaders in Congress know the truth? What exactly is President Bush taking a “bold stand” with?

Folks we are facing an historical event. If not handled with the spirit of wisdom it could throw the world into a depression. I’m not exaggerating! Over the weekend private meetings were taken place in Washington to let these two Canaanites come up with a plan to rescue the economy. In my opinion they are not rescuing you and me. Every time I listen to them on television my spirit is grieved. Looking to these men to solve this problem is the same as letting the bank robbers be in charge of the robbery investigation.

Obama is likely to support a bailout but "Fearing a political backlash against Democrats," Roll Call reported, "Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has told the White House that it must serve up support from Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) if it hopes to ensure bipartisan backing for a massive economic bailout package by week's end."

Conservative Leaders to Rally Behind Gingrich to Oppose Bailout.

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich hammered the $700 billion financial sector bailout as a "really bad idea."

Gingrich said "Only in this city and on Wall Street does this bailout have any hope, and they may be able to ram it through, but it's very clear to the country at large that this is a dead loser and it's going to be a dead loser in October, and it's going to be a dead loser on Election Day," Gingrich said at a briefing to discuss a poll conducted f or his outfit, American Solutions for Winning the Future, "And [elected officials] are going to go home and say, ‘I didn't have any choice' and people are going to say, ‘Ok, I need to get somebody new who has a choice.

Sold Out! Bankers Win
Written By: Jonas Clark

Congress approved the $700 billion banker bailout with a final vote of 263-171 in the House. The voice of the people was ignored. The aristocrats have spoken, “Long live the Canaanites, who cares about the will of the peasantry?”

It’s amazing, the tide of calls that flooded the White House, Senators, Congressmen, and anyone that would listen to the voice of the people begging our leadership to “vote no” to the greedy banker bailout – but the bluebloods refused to listen. To make their bailout plan more palatable to us churls they spun the facts, changed the terminology, ramped up fear and bought the votes needed from the weak and timid.
