E-mail Print

The leader of the nation's largest veterans organization says he is "deeply disappointed and concerned" after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

FACTOID: Socialism in America

E-mail Print
The roots of socialism in United States of America can be traced to the arrival of German immigrants in the 1850s when Marxian socialist unions began, such as the National Typographic Union in 1852, United Hatters of 1856, and Iron Moulders’ Union of North America in 1859. Theodore H. White, author of Fire in the Ashes: Europe in Mid-Century (1953) wrote, “Socialism is the belief and the hope that by proper use of government power, men can be rescued from their helplessness in the wild cycling cruelty of depression and boom.”

David Ogden Deputy AG Appointment Threatens Parental Rights

E-mail Print
The Senate Judiciary Committee recently voted 14–5 to send David Ogden’s nomination as Deputy Attorney General to the full U.S. Senate for a confirmation vote.  This confirmation could permanently diminish the parental rights of all American citizens.  It is anticipated that the Senate will hold its vote sometime this week.

President Obama’s decision to nominate David Ogden to the second highest position in the Justice Department as the Deputy Attorney General is again bringing his leadership into question.  Ogden is most known for his history of representing Playboy and other purveyors of pornography in high-profile legal cases. He also challenged the legality of using filters on library computers to protect children from seeing pornography.  His record prompts many to question whether Ogden would enforce the nation’s pornography laws, as would be part of his job description as deputy attorney general.

Islam: Ideology of Conquest

E-mail Print
What is Islam? A religion or a political machine? Presidents and Prime Ministers have said, “Islam is a peaceful religion,” but does anyone really believe that? History does not. While world leaders ignore the true facts about Islam the Body of Christ cannot. Discover the naked truth about the ideology of Islam.

We find in the Proverbs the passage that reads, “As a man thinks within himself, so he is.”  Jesus echoed this when he taught that it is not what goes into a man that makes him unclean, but what comes out from inside him.  This speaks to a fundamental truism of human nature – the way we think, believe and view the world dictates the choices we make and how we behave.

The United Nations: Our Children's New Parents?

E-mail Print

Through its various agencies and treaties, the United Nations seeks to undermine individual, as well as national sovereignty.  It has been almost 15 years since President Clinton signed on to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).  The U.S. remains one of the last holdouts as the treaty lies dormant, yet to be ratified.  The UNCRC grants children new civil, social, cultural and economic rights that could override parental decisions.  Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), is pushing for a vote as there is a real sense that under an Obama presidency, the UNCRC could finally be ratified.

If the UNCRC is ratified, parents could be prohibited from homeschooling and spanking their children.  It undermines parental authority and gives more power to the state to further dictate how children are raised.  It grants children dangerous new rights thus encouraging more rebellious behavior.  The truth is that in many cases, children do not have the wisdom and maturity to make sound decisions.  The treaty also gives children the mechanism by which they could dispute any parental judgment.  The UNCRC transfers more parental authority to the state while granting children radical new rights.

Shocking Comparison Between Black Slavery and Abortion

E-mail Print
Day Gardner Comments on The Supreme Court's Rulings that Neither Blacks nor the Unborn are 'Fully Human'

One hundred and fifty seven years ago today Dred Scott, a black slave, petitioned the Supreme Court for his freedom, but was denied.  In the case known as the Dred Scott decision, the Supreme Court ruled that slaves--even freed slaves, and all their descendants, had no rights protected by the Constitution and that states had no right to abolish slavery.

The reasoning in Dred Scott and Roe v. Wade is nearly identical. In both cases the Court stripped all rights from a class of human beings and reduced them to nothing more than the property of others.

School Censors Kids for ‘God Bless the USA’ and ‘In God We Trust’

E-mail Print
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — School officials ordered “God Bless the USA,” “In God We Trust,” and other phrases referencing God and prayer to be covered up on posters before they could be displayed in the school’s hallways.

The Wilson County Lakeview Elementary School students -- ages 6 to 10 years old -- invited fellow students to "Come and Pray with Us" in the posters. The posters were hand-drawn by students and their families to announce “See You at the Pole,” a voluntary, student-led prayer event held outside of class time.

Six-Year Old Center of Lesbian Custody Battle

E-mail Print

The Liberty Counsel on Tuesday filed its brief before the Virginia Court of Appeals on behalf of Lisa Miller and her six-year-old daughter, Isabella. The brief argues that Virginia law prohibits the enforcement of a child custody order that arose out of a Vermont same-sex civil union.

The story began last year. After the Virginia Supreme Court refused to decide whether the Virginia Marriage Amendment prohibits recognition of the custody order, a Vermont court ruled that its custody order be enforced in favor of Janet Jenkins, a practicing lesbian who is not Isabella’s biological or adoptive mother.

Supreme Court Upholds the Public Display of the Ten Commandments in Public Parks

E-mail Print

In a landmark 9-0 decision, the Court ruled the City of Pleasant Grove, Utah does not have to remove a Ten Commandments display from a public park.

This paves the way for states, cities and counties to display the Ten Commandments without fear of expensive and massive lawsuits.  This includes the City of Boise.

The case also affirms the basic position of the Keep the Commandments Coalition in their fight to keep the Ten Commandments in Julia Davis Park in Boise, Idaho.

That position was the City of Boise had the right to determine what kinds of monuments and displays were put in their public parks and they did not have to remove the Ten Commandments because of a threatened lawsuit by extremist Fred Phelps.

Sell Me the Eco-friendly, Energy-efficient Light Bulbs

E-mail Print

American is a land of liberty and choices. Just like God has given us a free will, the United States gives us the freedom to choose whether we want to live in a condo or a home, go to law school or sell cars, eat healthy or suffer the consequences.

Having the freedom to choose is part of what makes our  nation great.

That’s why I was so disappointed when I went to Sam’s Club on Sunday.  I needed some new light bulbs for a ceiling fan in my office. It seems there’s a short circuit that randomly causes the bulbs to pop every month or two. The building is so old that the maintenance men tell me it’s better to replace a light bulb every couple of months than to invest in rewiring the entire office.

God Bless America "No More?"

E-mail Print
Recording artists Bruce Springsteen and Pete Seeger Symbolize Where the U.S. Could be Heading.

"This Land is Your Land" is a song written by Woody Guthrie. Guthrie was tired of the radio overplaying Irving Berlin's "God Bless America." He thought the song was unrealistic and complacent. Partly inspired by his experiences during a cross-country trip and his distaste for God Bless America, he penned his most famous song, "This Land Is Your Land" in February 1940. It was titled "God Blessed America."

Springsteen and Seeger sang "This Land is Your Land" at President Obama's inauguration concert in front of 750,000 people on the Washington D.C. Mall. Although Seeger claims he left the Communist Party in 1950, he still fosters Marxist beliefs. At the inauguration, Seeger only agreed to sing the song if the original verses were re-inserted.

In context, the original verses speak against private property rights. They show workers in relief lines, leaving the impression that people are being exploited by free market capitalism. Christianity was alluded to by including the words "in the shadow of the steeple," which showed the church not helping the people.

"There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me;
Sign was painted, it said private property;
But on the back side it didn't say nothing;
That side was made for you and me.

In the squares of the city, In the shadow of a steeple;
By the relief office, I'd seen my people.
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
Is this land made for you and me?
Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking that freedom highway;
Nobody living can ever make me turn back
This land was made for you and me."

"I'm still a Communist, in the sense that I don't believe the world will survive with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer," Seeger said in a 2000 interview with Mother Jones magazine.

Recently, the San Diego Unified school district offered an apology to Seeger. The organization tried to ban him in 1960 from performing because of his Marxist leanings. The American Civil Liberties Union intervened on his behalf and he was able to perform.

Bruce Springsteen who joined Seeger at the inauguration, promotes himself as America's working-class hero despite being a multi-millionaire himself. Springsteen recently released an album called 'Working On A Dream' which he also performed at the Super Bowl.

Pete Seeger is a Unitarian Universalist, an apostate religion that emphasizes tolerance and respect and incorporates Jewish, Christian and other faith traditions, but has no creed or doctrine according to ApologeticsIndex.org. They believe that personal experience, conscience, and reason should be the final authority.

Christians need to pray for the United States. Our country was not founded on Marxist principles that allow a few elites to control the rights of many. Socialism always leads to moral and financial failure as the European nations currently demonstrate.
