Rediscovering the American Spirit begins with our shared values.
Do you remember the day after September 11, 2001? America united together. We flew our nation’s flag with pride, wore U.S.A T-shirts, posted red, white and blue bumper stickers with clever sayings on our cars. We promised never to forget our shared values.
What happened? That’s what Glenn Beck, the popular radio talk show host and TV news personality, wants to know. Beck is on a mission to jog the memories of Americans from coast to coast with the 9-12 Project.
The day after America was attacked we were not obsessed with Red States, Blue States or political parties. We were united as Americans, standing together to protect the values and principles of the greatest nation ever created.
The 9-12 Project offers nine principles and 12 values. The 12 values are honesty, reverence, hope, thrift, humility, charity, sincerity, moderation, hard work, courage, personal responsibility and gratitude. The nine principles are:
1. God is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the center of my life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
If you watch the direction that America is being taken in and feel powerless to stop it, if you believe that your voice isn’t loud enough to be heard above the noise anymore, and if you read the headlines every day and feel an empty pit in your stomach…as if you’re completely alone, The 9-12 Project invites you to register with its non-political movement online.
The project offers a forum for like-minded Americans looking for direction in taking back control of our country. It’s also a place to find information that will assist you in the quest to bring America back to the place we were on September 12, 2001: a commitment to country, not political parties.
