Fifty-six men signed the Declaration of Independence. John Hancock, president of the Continental Congress, was the first to sign. Edward Rutledge, 26, was the youngest. Benjamin Franklin, 70, was the oldest. They all had one thing in common: The believed in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They also understood the dangers of tyranny and a corrupted government. Standing up for liberty put their lives, fortunes and families in great peril – but they did it anyway. That same revolutionary spirit lives on in the U.S. today. There is a grassroots stirring in the hearts of God’s patriots that I have never seen in my lifetime. The awakening has begun!
Politicians – both Democrats and Republicans – have been violating the U.S. Constitution for years and ignoring the will of the people. Many regular “Joe-the-Plumbers” feel government is not serving their best interest but plundering them as tax serfs to save the ones who led us into financial crisis to begin with. Despite the fact that the U.S. has the worst debt-to-GDP ratio, our Congress continues to pass fiscally irresponsible bills – without even reading them. To me, that’s criminal.
Over 30 percent of mortgage holders are upside down on their mortgages. The Federal Reserve continues devaluating our currency. The July unemployment rate is 9.5 percent. That represents an entire lost decade of gains! For many Americans, Washington D.C. has offered nothing more than hype, vain words, political rhetoric, check-writing bailouts, socialist program funding and bigger government.
Has the leftist agenda overplayed its hand? Some believe so and the battle is raging. Christians across the land are waking up to the fact that God has an expectation of us to take a stand for liberty once again. This nation belongs to God and His will shall be done regardless of the plans of the enemy.
As Christians we need to make our voices heard. Many are calling for prayer. That’s good, but we must also speak to our leaders and hold them accountable to the Word of God. When God called Moses, He did not tell him to pray for Pharaoh but to speak to him. When God called Elijah he did not tell him to pray for Ahab but to speak to him. Yes, we need to pray but we must also speak to our leaders.
In this issue of The Voice magazine we reveal the facts about the cap and trade climate bill now before the Senate. You’ll learn to overcome doubt and fear, and so much more.
