Gays Spew Hate Speech Against Christian Family Groups

A family organization that encourages parents to call their children out of school on April 17 (if their local school will be permitting students and/or teachers to remain silent during instructional time for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network's (GLSEN) Day of Silence) has been receiving threathening phone calls and e-mails from gays.

Day of Silence is meant to be a campaign against name calling, bullying, and harassment. In voice and e-mail messages from Day of Silence supporters, staff members of Capitol Resource Institute (CRI) and another family organization are called "bigot," "disgusting," "evil spawn," and much more.

Karen England, Executive Director of Capitol Resource Institute commented, "If this is the kind of atmosphere we get just for asking kids to stay home, in an email, can you imagine what it is like for kids refusing to stay silent?"

CRI and other pro-family groups urge this one day walkout because they believe students should be free to support traditional marriage and relationships, without their peers calling them bigots. They also believe that teachers should focus on teaching academic subjects, not on molding kids' minds about sexual issues.

"If schools permit the Day of Silence in class, students are best off somewhere else," Said England.

CRI released a brand new video called "Louder than Silence" to show the hypocrisy of the Day of Silence supporters.

"The actions of Day of Silence supporters are speaking louder than the silence," England said.

"We believe that respectful dialogue is important when people discuss disagreements on social issues. Unfortunately, we are not seeing that respect extended to us by Day of Silence supporters," she said.

This event falsely equates being anti-harassment with in favor of social activism in tax-payer funded schools. CRI strongly opposes all harassment. Teachers and students, however, should always be able to speak freely at school. The classroom should not be the place for social activism and protest.

CRI's new video powerfully illustrates that many people see one view of homosexuality as the only acceptable view. They believe that husband-wife relationships are best for society and for children. Families who hold on to this belief, should not be mistreated.

"Many people who support traditional values are called right wing extremists, and Homeland Security says it is concerned about us. Maybe Homeland Security should be more concerned about assessing the threats we are receiving than about us as a threat to others," England said.

supressive silence
written by chattyone09, April 29, 2009
Historically, a moment of silence has been a short period that honors, or pays tribute/respect to those who have honorably served or passed on. An enitre day of mandatory silence is a twisted form of tribute that is oppressive and supressive no matter what cause you assign it.

I'm so thankful my teenage daughter was "permitted" to transfer to an independent study school. There is far less drama, more respect, higher expectations, flexibility, more learning and no more out of control classrooms or crazy activist activities! She has far better grades as a result; imagine!
