As everybody on the planet knows now, Barack Obama was re-elected President of the United States. Democrats retained control of the US Senate, while Republicans retained control of the US House of Representatives. In other words, the national elections produced no change. But, in reality, we haven't had any significant change in a national election in many years.
America prides itself in being called “the land of the free.” But, what, exactly, does it mean to be free? Does it mean owning a car and having a job? People in communist countries own a car and have a job. Does it mean going to a mall to shop. People in communist countries go to a mall to shop. Does it mean going to an amusement park to recreate? People in communist countries go to amusement parks. Does it mean going to the polls and voting? People in communist countries go to the polls and vote. In reality, many, if not most, of the things that most Americans would identify as marks of freedom are commonly practiced in the most oppressed communist countries of the world. So, what does it mean to be free?
President Obama sent a clear message to our nation’s children by validating homosexuality and same sex marriage. America’s president made it plain he supports “gay marriage.” This is a reflection on the continued slide into immorality within our nation’s leadership. President Obama needs prayer. His view is just plain wrong and reflects his deepest core values. What a person values is reflected in his or her character. Values define beliefs, kingdoms, cultures, people groups, and purpose. Personal values gather people and personal values divide people. To some Christ is a stumbling stone. To others he is the light of the world. Values light our path, set our course and influence our lives. Few want a leader that opposes Christian values and embraces Sodom’s values.
Imagine this, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner read from the U.S. Constitution as he sat onstage for an interview with Politico's Mike Allen at the Newseum in Washington May 25, 2011. Not to uphold the constitution, but to make a case for raising the U.S. national debt limit.
I hope you don’t think I am a Michael Savage groupie. It is just that, in my opinion, he is a voice of reason crying in the wilderness.
On both Monday and Tuesday nights this week he has used his platform on his nationally syndicated radio show to boldly proclaim that America’s only hope is a return to a society built on the “bedrock of the Bible.”
