Are you a free man or property of the State? Samuel Adams, Father of the American Revolution wrote, “If the liberties of America are ever completely ruined...it will in all probability be the consequence of a mistaken notion of prudence which leads men to acquiesce in measures of the most destructive tendency for the sake of present ease.”
To acquiesce for present ease means to give up today’s God given liberties for tomorrow’s serfdom. Liberty can be exchanged for bondage. As a liberty loving free man you have the right and responsibility to allow and forbid. Christ gave you keys to the Kingdom and whatsoever you forbid (bind) on earth is bound in heaven and whatsoever you allow (loose) on earth is loosed in heaven (Matthew 16:19).
Heaven is both a place and a position. You have heard it said everyone wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die. I agree. That, however, is not the heaven our Lord is describing. He is describing God’s governing seat of authority as your source of power. From that seat God gave you power to rule over serpents and scorpions and every evil thing (Luke 10:19). Scripture also declares you seated together with Christ in heavenly places, not after you are dead but now in this lifetime (Ephesians 2:6). This speaks of your current position in Christ. That heavenly position is the “commanding heights” of Christ governing authority. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
Upon salvation you were translated out of darkness and are now a new creature in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17). Not only were your sins forgiven, you received a new spiritual nature and a new citizenship, a heavenly citizenship, the source of your liberty, power and authority.
So where is your allegiance? Is it to Christ the King, His Word, ways, morality, ethics and standards of righteousness? Are you dedicated to advancing the gospel of the Kingdom of God (Mark 1:15)? I’m speaking of the culture of the Kingdom under Christ’ rule not just the doctrine of the cross. Will you guard your freedoms wherein Christ has made you free? What about your brother’s freedoms? Are you your brother’s keeper or have you gone the way of Cain (Genesis 4:9)? Do you love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:39)? Can you be bought or bribed into exchanging your brother’s liberty for unrighteous mammon (Numbers 22:7)? Perhaps better you are a man of integrity both willing and able to take a stand for Christ in season and out.
Every nation's hope is in Christ in you, the hope of glory. Get equipped to turn your nation around and advance the Kingdom of God.

At salvation you became a member of Zion and a citizen of the kingdom of God with both rights and responsibilities (Hebrews 12:22). You have the right to act on the Word of God as a son of God unto good works (1 Timothy 3:17). You can use those rights or you can exchange your God given liberty to another through apathy, lukewarmness or just plain old-fashion laziness (Revelation 3:16).
To ignore the wiles of principalities and powers working through reprobate political powers that openly violate the Word of God should be unthinkable to everyone except self-centered and carnal humanists (Ephesians 6:12). As a son of God however you understand that personal responsibility is important in maintaining your liberty. Scripture says the entire world is waiting for you and other sons of God to manifest, not hide, compromise, duck and run, but to be salt and light in a world gone mad (Romans 8:19).
So what’s the Holy Ghost saying right now? I believe He is saying it’s time to embrace the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). I wrote some of this in my book “Kingdom Living.” We need to get back to the roots of our Christian culture. The Apostle Paul said, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made you free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage” (Galatians 5:1). Bondage is the direction our country has taken through constant undermining of the U. S. Constitution, Wall Street greed, odious Federal Reserve monetary policy, debased political leadership, the general apathy of the Church and watered down preaching by celebrity seeking preachers. This is coming to an end. Even though we have entered perilous times our national fall into a moral abyss can be stopped. It can be turned around by good people like you that are putting first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. The awakening has begun.
Christ set us free from the wages of sin and gave us His “perfect law of liberty” to lead us and guide us in truth (James 1:25). That truth is our freedom. It is our liberty as free men. That God given liberty is what the devil hates and what corrupt man is after. Christ, not the State, is your source of liberty. That liberty my Brother and Sister is worth fighting for.
To reclaim our God given rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness we must first submit to God wholeheartedly, resist big and bigger government intrusion, stop funding wickedness, and get back to the guidelines and safety of the U. S. Constitution and the Word of God. As Samuel Adams suggest, to acquiesce for ease is contrary to the principles of our Founding Fathers. I say it’s also contrary to the principles of the King of Liberty.
We must ask ourselves these questions, “Are we still one nation under God with liberty and justice for all? Am I a free man or the property of the State?” Your answers will determine your future.
