Congress to Revive Hate Crime Bill to Censor Christians

One of the gravest threats to religious liberty and freedom of speech is the proposed hate crime legislation. Even while national attention is focused is on the economy and Obama’s radical economic and foreign policy, the far left is at work undermining our First Amendment rights at home with hate crime legislation.

In other countries where these types of laws have been implemented, pastors and Christians have been jailed and fined for their faithful adherence to the Scriptures.

US Congressman John Conyers is reintroducing the same hate crime bill that was passed in the last Congress, but was vetoed by President Bush. Conyers hopes that it will be passed and signed by President Obama.

This new hate crime bill is making its way to the Judiciary committee as soon as this Friday!

Now we are on the verge of passing Federal hate crime laws that will be used to silence believers like in Canada, Europe and Australia. No more will your pastor be able to declare the truth about Islam or homosexuality because it will be considered a hate crime.

Obama is on board!

On the White House’s website it says “President Obama and Vice President Biden will strengthen federal hate crimes legislation, expand hate crimes protection by passing the Matthew Shepard Act, and reinvigorate enforcement at the Department of Justice's Criminal Section.” President Obama is a large supporter of hate crimes legislation and certainly will not hesitate to sign this bill into law unless we act now!

While this new bill has not yet been given a new name or bill number, it is more dangerous to our Constitutional rights than other hate crimes bills that are also still pending.  All hate crimes legislation is a direct threat to our religious liberties. We must let Congress know we are watching!

Surprise Attack

This proposed bill is the same one passed in 2007 when they surprised Republicans and passed the bill in less than an hour before any opposition could be mounted. We cannot allow this to happen again.

We must act now while we have the opportunity to build opposition. This bill will pass in both the House and Senate, and will be signed by President Obama if we do not do anything.

The most important thing you can do is call the Congressional judiciary committee members and tell them “Please do not vote for any hate crime legislation, especially Rep. Conyers' new hate crime bill being introduced this week. These bills threaten the religious liberties of all Americans.”

TAKE ACTION:

Call the Judiciary Committee’s leaders today and forward this e-mail to your family and friends. We must not let Nancy Pelosi surprise us again! Let them know that hate crimes bills are an attack on your freedom of speech and free exercise of religion. Call toll free number at: 1-877-851-6437.

  • Hon. John Conyers Jr., Chairman; (D) Michigan
  • Hon. Lamar Smith, Ranking Member; (R) Texas

Sign the CADC petition in opposition to hate crimes legislation. Your participation could help stop Congress from impairing your right to freedom of speech, religious expression and equal justice.

pain in the butt
written by Lizard Of Ahaz, April 09, 2009
It is about time you were held accountable for they bigotry and hate you spread . Nobody should be above the law and especially because of a book within long ago to tell herders it was wrong to have sex with their goats . Christians are always yammering about how they are persecuted while they persecute those around them . If you can't be nice to others don't complain when you get punched in the nose by the ones you have bullied .

Beginning of the final Ending
written by Ravenmoon, April 10, 2009
While I am Christian in the sense that I believe in God and treat people as they treat me and do not pass judgement based on things like sexuality ; I do see the harm in this if it is passed. One day it may be considered a crime to be of a nonjudgemental standing when the time does not suit the government. Soon anything but "government belief" will not be tolerated- look back and read about how Hitler came to bring such pain to a country and you will see that it all started out much like this is already going. Concentration camps with symbols for everyone are waiting in the wings for us Americans- get prepared while you still can!

The not force my beliefs on others if they choose to practice homosexuality or the Islamic faith, then that is between them and God, but do not force it down my throat and since this is my religious belief and part of my faith homosexuals or Islamic in turn have no right enforcing their opinions and beliefs on me. What we say in our sanctuary's is our business and we are entitled to that right. Please do not pass this measure. We have plenty of laws to protect homosexuals, Islamic or any other faith and we need no special laws just for these two

it's not about censorship...
written by chase, April 30, 2009
it's not about censorship - it's about protecting people. i don't understand why anyone - especially followers of Christ - would not support defending those who are downtrodden. this isn't about sexuality - it's about people. even if you disagree with the lifestyle, you should still love the person. if you disagree with that, then you're disagreeing with Christ, not just me.

I am a christian
written by Rina, April 30, 2009
I am a christian, I have been my whole life. I agree with almost all hate crime bills, and also agree with the fact that if I say something that may offend someone else or if it causes someone else to sin, I am in violation of a christian law. However saying that I find it unfair that a person who commits a crime and then turns around and blame a pastor because he said homosexuality is wrong is horrible. This is for those ring winged nuts (Shirley Phelps anyone) that will stand on a corner in public with signs that say GOD HATES FAGS should be guilty of a hate crime, not a pastor who preaches on sins. And yes pastors do that, but on all sins, not just homosexuality, they preach on anger, lust, hating, sex before marriage, murder, and molesting. But I have never hated the sinner, I hate the sin. WE ARE ALL SINNERS, we all do things that are wrong, but for trying to tell a preacher not to teach on being gay would be like telling him not to teach on murder, or molesting a child. We live in this wonderful country where we have a lot of freedoms one of them is that you can believe in anything that you want to. Do you see me trying to pass a bill to shut up the KKK or the gangs in LA because of what they believe, NO because that is their freedom to believe and preach whatever they want. The fact that I get called Bias, or a hater, or a bigot who believes in a book that has no meaning, hurts. It violates my rights as a christian and a American, but do you know what I do I TURN THE OTHER CHEEK. I don't try to quiet you. I find it unfair that they are trying to quiet the church.

about the "Hate crim bill"
written by Lawrence, May 01, 2009
Now as far as this goes i believe the ones that come against this is just as wrong as doesn't believe in god what so ever because of the fact that if they help pass this bill there just as much to blame as the ones that they say are saying this against the homosexuals . Which fag is just a word in many ways an if this is passed it will be turned to where every little thing that is done , people will us it or try to us it for every little thing that is said .

Rise up!!
written by e for a Revolution War, June 28, 2009
Well your comment Lizard Of Ahaz shows and tells everyone here you KNOW NOTHING OF THE BIBLE AT ALL!! Because it never says that.
Why do you think this administration will stop there. You will lose a lot more freedoms. I imagine this is a start of losing freedom of speech. I suppose you rather be Islam where when you speak out they will just shoot you or decapitate you. I guess you like that better. You saw what happen in Iran last week. When they shut down all media outlets and blocked all internet did you not. Guess What our great government wants the same software that made that possible. This bill makes it easier to bring that stuff here. This is not just a christian thing it is one more freedom we lose in this country which is freedom of speech. We are one step closer to dictatorship and Nazi rule. Hope YOU enjoy it.

I stand for God, for Christ
written by Michael Hyams, October 29, 2009
As I watch this nation and the news, it hurts my heart to see that there are people who believe christians hate other people. To say this that christians hate people is one of the biggest lies out there. In fact hate goes against a christians nature. As a christian we love one another, Jesus Spoke of love Jn 13:34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
Jn 13:35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”God is Love 1Jn 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
To use the word hate is powerful. The word hate is equal to murder 1Jn 3:15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.
1Jn 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
When it comes to homosexuality, As a Christian we do not hate homosexuals, but what we do hate is the act of homosexuality, Do not be decieved 1Co 6:9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
1Co 6:10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
1Co 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Lev 18:22 “ ‘Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
These words are not from me but from God's word. It was never in Gods order of Nature to put a man with a man or a woman with a woman. Rather it has always been one man and one woman. If this nation continues in this way it will become like Sodom and Gomorah, Gen 19 God punished them for there sin by raining down sulfer. Homosexuality as one of those sins.
Ge 19:24 Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the LORD out of the heavens.
Christians are not about hate but about love and when we see a brother in a sin we are to go to that brother and tell him his wrong
There are far greater things here. One day Jesus Christ will return and destroy those who do not know God and do not obey the Gospel
2Th 1:7 the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.
2Th 1:8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
2Th 1:9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power. My encouragement to you is to find out how to obey the Gospel.

we talked about this in high school civics
written by Love, November 02, 2009
but what about certain people's freedoms. i mean to be an active citizen you need to vote but it would be takinng away our rights to make it a law. although i don't like when people are mean to each other, but think logically how many singers would be sued for lyrics and the kids who don't even think about what they say this new law just gives more people a reason to sue. If your an adult and you can't take a little verbal abuse thats being over sensitive. remember the saying "sticks and stones may break my bones will never hurt me" if our society whould just learn to be tough, ignore things said or even just dont start stuff we would be better off. this law ment to make things less discriminating but today it has made white men the most discriminated. most people think people who are a different color are treated bad because they were slaves, but if you look it up the irish were the first slaves. people are people and although none should be mean to the other neither should people be forced to not speak their mind.
