Sen. Barack Obama didn’t accept Libertarian Party Presidential Nominee Bob Barr’s invitation for a live debate, so the creative candidate is taking his cause online.
Barr is tapping into the latest advances in campaign social networking to hold a real time, virtual debate during the televised debate between Obama and Sen. John McCain.
Call it Presidential Debate 2.0. The virtual debate will be broadcast at 9:00 p.m. EST from Christopher Newport University and will be streamed live over the Internet at http://www.bobbarr2008.com/counterdebate beginning at 9:00 p.m. EST.
This is a chance for Congressman Barr to address the American people and offer his answers to the questions asked in the debate using the latest advances in Internet social networking, according to Russell Verney, Barr's campaign manager.
"It's important that voters hear all the voices in this election, especially since Republicans and Democrats—on whose watch all of these problems were created—have proven they don't have the answers Americans are looking for,” Verney says.
“The advances in Internet communication are making it harder and harder for the two-party system to shut out alternative voices, which American voters are desperate to hear."
