Do you strive to incorporate Christian principles in your leadership? Do you feel like you would like to improve your leadership by seeking to be more Christ-like?
The reality is that as Christians it can be difficult to know how to do this without enforcing your values and beliefs on anyone as well as how to balance your leadership with your life. Here are seven ways you can incorporate Christian principles into your leadership.
1. Strive to always follow the Golden Rule. When difficult situations arise, ask yourself, is my behavior in line with how I would want someone else to treat me? If not, stop and figure out a different way in which you can resolve the particular problem or situation.
2. Don't be afraid to pray about how you can influence others through your righteous leadership. If you are leading someone who is not Christian or who is difficult for you to get along with, make praying for the person and the situation a priority. Asking God for help with your leadership responsibilities will make you a strong and reliable leader.
3. Don't be afraid of letting others know that you are a Christian. Let your life be an example to others of how they should live. By putting Christian principles into practice with your leadership, you are being an example to others and that can only benefit you and your team as well as those with whom you work.
4. Study famous and successful Christians both alive and dead. Thesepeople have much to offer in the way of encouragement, motivation and advice on how you can become an even better leader. Strive to implement their good qualities and to learn all you can from them. One of my favorite authors who writes on leadership and who is also a Christian is John Maxwell.
5. Be honest and ethical 100 percent of the time. This is extremely rare in today's world and if you are a person in whom everyone can trust and have faith in all of the time, then you will become a great leader. Furthermore, your integrity will cause others to wonder about your beliefs thus giving you opportunities to share them.
6. Give true Christ-like service. This kind of service is extremely rare in today's world. When you give service do not think about what you will get out of it but rather what you can give to the other person. Give service both to those who are under your leadership as well as to strangers and others whom you do not lead.
7. Go the extra mile. Be willing to do more than you are asked to do and more that what is expected of you. Surprise others with your willingness to do more.
