Personal Prophecy - Position yourself for Prophetic Fulfillment

Prophetic Article By Bill Johnson

These are times of prophetic fulfillment that we’ve never known before. Discover four Biblical keys to seeing a prophetic word come to pass in your life.
We are entering into exciting times in the Kingdom of God. These are times of prophetic fulfillment that we’ve never known before. Yet I imagine each of us have several personal prophecies we have yet to see fulfilled. I believe God has given me several keys that will position us to see these prophecies begin to be fulfilled this year. We must lay down our burdens, be open-minded about the prophecies, align our spirit first with God’s promise, and then align our soul with the personal prophecy. Let’s take a closer look at each of these points.

Lay down your burdens. Four prophetic keys to fulfilling the prophetic word.

In order to hear what God is saying to us, we must first lay down our cares, disappointments and any other hindrances that stop us from receiving His burden. Matthew 11:28-30 tells us that we are to bring our burdens to Him because His burden is light and His yoke is easy. Then we can begin praying through our prophecies, allowing the Lord to show us the ones that are on His current agenda.

Be open-minded about the prophecies.

Most of us do not see these things come to pass because we are filtering them through our natural perspectives rather than God’s supernatural perspective. Second Corinthians 4:18 says we are not supposed to look at the things which are seen, but we are to look at the things which are not seen. God, through His prophetic word to you, gives you the ability to see what is beyond the natural. Even though some prophecies seemingly look impossible in the natural, you first must be able to see, not the limitations of the current natural situation, but God’s supernatural plan to change your natural situation through the prophecies He has spoken to you. It’s all right to say to the Lord, “Lord, I don’t understand this, help me to understand this. How can this be?” In Luke 1:28-50, we read the story of Mary and the prophecy of Jesus. Mary didn’t understand the prophecy and she inquired of the angel concerning her prophecy.

Align your spirit first with God’s promise.

I do not believe Mary fully comprehended the entire prophecy about being called to bring the Savior into the world in her soul (mind, will and emotions) but nevertheless she aligned her spirit with the promise of God. Her response was, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done according to thy word.” Abraham experienced the same situation concerning God’s prophetic word to him about receiving a son. In Romans 4:17-22 we read that Abraham considered not the deadness of his body or his wife’s body. Instead, He was fully persuaded that God could do what He had promised.

Align your soul with the personal prophecy.

Most of us get stuck at this point in the process of seeing the fulfillment of a prophecy because we are daily reminded through natural circumstances that it has not yet come to pass. I believe there is a valuable key for us to understand during this process. In Luke 1:46 we read, “My soul doth magnify the Lord.” Mary began to magnify God before her prophecy came to pass! And in Romans 4:20 we read this about Abraham: “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.”

I truly believe one of the major keys to begin activating your prophecies is found in aligning your soul with God’s word to you. How do you know when your soul is aligned with God? You will begin to magnify and glorify the Lord before your prophecy comes to pass!

Several months ago my wife and I were ministering at a local church about five hours away from our home. During the meetings, the Lord had me call out a young couple and tell them three specific things God wanted to do in their lives. Immediately following the meeting the lady came to me and said that I had missed it – that it would be impossible for that to happen in their lives. Yet a few months later we went back to that same church and the same lady came to me and said all three things did indeed come to pass.

When I asked her what she did following that first prophecy, she said that she went home and prayed about it and the Lord told her that the prophecy was truly from Him. So she told the Lord, “Well, I just have to believe it then!”

Over the next few weeks she said that she spoke those three things forth at least twice each day. As the days went by she became more and more convinced that God was going to fulfill His word to them. She described to me how she could sense faith beginning to rise within her. She then began to thank God for fulfilling His word to her, even though nothing had happened in the natural. She began to magnify the Lord before the prophecy came to pass!

These same keys are available to you.

When you receive a true prophetic word from the Lord, you have a role to play in seeing it come to pass. Begin laying down your burdens – any hindrance in your life such as doubt, unbelief, and disappointment. Then pray through your prophecies. Faith will arise and you will become fully persuaded that the Lord can perform it. You will begin magnifying the Lord before the word comes to pass. If you use these keys, you will be on your way to great prophetic fulfillment in your life.
