Homestead, Florida TEA Party
As citizens from thousands of cities across America gathered at their City Halls to gather for a "Tea Party," the small city of Homestead, Florida was no different.  Wednesday, April 15th, as many patriotic citizens drove to the Post Office on Campbell Drive (to mail their tax returns) in the City of Homestead, Florida, they could not miss crowd of men, women, and children gathered with signs and posters expressing their concern over the excessive taxing and out of control spending happening in Washington.

This small, yet vocal group of residents were from both sides of the political aisle and were focused on economic rather than political issues.  They said they gathered to raise awareness over the "out of control" spending and the "future taxing" that is coming to average Americans, and to protest the many irresponsible financial actions by our President and Congress.

This event was organized by Melanie Lowry and Victoria Brower, two stay at home mom's who decided to do something about the frustration over watching thier country change for the worst.  Mayor Bell and Councilwoman Wendy Lobos came to address the crowd and told them that their stance included fiscal responsibility.

Young and old, men and women, and persons from every spectrum of the ethnic rainbow were side by side letting everyone know that another tea party may be brewing.  The citizens feel there is no real representation and that they are not being listened to by their elected officials.   We applaud the involvement of these citizens in the democratic process and wish them much success in their endeavor to voice their opinion and exercise their freedom of speech.

Long Beach, California TEA Party
Yesterday's Tea Party, held in Bixby Park, Long Beach, California at noon, was very enjoyable and peaceful. The numbers were nothing remarkable at first glance, but it was only advertized for a week. The pitfall happened because I have never done anything like this before. As I tried to do everything legally, I was told not to advertize until the 'i's were dotted and the 't's were crossed. It wasn't until a week ago I gave up and just had a free speech gathering.

Two ACORN people showed up, a couple, but they stayed in their area and we in ours. They had some radical bumper stickers on the back of the car. Most of them were against President Bush which is quite odd when you realize the only reason they were protesting this so-called protest is because they disagreed with what we were saying. They actually stated they thought that we should pay more taxes. I disagree. However they were peaceful. That was appreciated by all.
