After Joshua: The Generation That Followed Other Gods
We’re the “Joshua Generation.” Or at least that’s what many of us have heard preached in sermons and heralded in high praise throughout Pentecostal and Charismatic churches. The Joshua Generation is a bold group of spiritual reformers aiming to turn the world upside down for Christ. It’s the group that goes in to possess the land. We’re the ones who vowed that our household would serve the Lord. But what happens after the so-called Joshua Generation? Let’s look at the account of Joshua’s days. The Bible says after the Joshua generation died there arose another generation; a generation that did not follow God.

The Prophet Samuel wrote, “and the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord and served Baalim. And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers which brought them out of the land of Egypt and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the Lord to anger. And they forsook the Lord and served Baal and Ashtaroth. And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies” (Judges 2:10-14).

Christian Ministries Get Scrutinized Weak on K-12 Christian Education
An organization that advocates Christian education and homeschooling issued a report card on the nation's largest Christian family and youth ministries, grading the groups on their education message.

Chaplain E. Ray Moore founder of The Exodus Mandate, which encourages Christian families to leave government schools to train and teach their children instead in Christian schools or through home education, graded the major Christian ministries and organizations on how effectively they support K-12 Christian education or home schooling.

Nine organizations were rated, many of which have actively engaged in the cultural war in the US for the past several decades.

Could HomeSchooling Children Become Illegal?

Education, by the state, is designed to create some knowledge in children. More than that, however, education is designed to create good citizens, wards of the state if you will. We teach conformity, how to line up and move from one place to the other at the ringing of a bell.

Some issues are difficult and require a lot of ground work before the real discussion can begin.  To me education is not one of those complicated issues.  At least that is true if we look at education the same way as we look at parenting.  What is parenting?  Parenting is the act of raising a child or children.  It is really about distilling our values into our children.  It is about taking babies and turning them into mature citizens; in our case, mature Christians who are able to divide the Word correctly.

Homeschooling Freedoms are Under Fire in New Hampshire
Representative Judith Day is the sole sponsor of legislation that would radically rewrite the testing and assessment portion of the New Hampshire homeschool law.

"If passed, New Hampshire would have one of the most restrictive homeschool laws in the nation," said Mike Donnelly, staff attorney for HSLDA.

Over the past few years increasing numbers of parents have been turning to homeschooling to raise their children. Homeschoolers are thriving since all the research shows that homeschoolers significantly outperform their peers on standardized tests. Furthermore, studies show there is no correlation between increased regulation and homeschool students' performance, which is why most states have removed their assessment and testing requirements.

The current New Hampshire law is already more burdensome than most states.  In addition to an annual notice homeschoolers must provide an annual statement of academic progress and maintain two years of records and instructional materials. The proposed law would require all homeschoolers to take both a test, and to submit to a portfolio evaluation by a "credentialed educator." It then places subjective authority in the hands of a superintendent or non-public school principle to terminate a family's homeschool program.

"It's amazing that New Hampshire is considering these kinds of additional restrictions when it already requires parents to provide annual assessments," said Donnelly.  "This new law is unnecessary.  It would simply waste taxpayers' money and parents' time," he added.

Hearings are scheduled for February 11th in Concord New Hampshire.
