America’s job creators offered the Obama administration’s economic plans another resounding vote of “no confidence.” Stocks are again plunging as President Barack Obama signaled a refusal to change the failed big-spending, big-government policies responsible for the current economic stagnation.

When markets opened after the biggest Election Day in presidential history, the S&P 500 tumbled 52.98 points, or 5.3 percent while the Dow retreated 486.01, or 5.1 percent. The Russell 2000 Index of small U.S. companies fell 5.7 percent to 514.64. The MSCI World Index of 23 developed markets decreased 2.5 percent to 982.98. The stock market declined again after Obama's State of the Union address.

Israel took action on Saturday to defend its citizens with targeted air strikes against terrorist leaders and their strongholds in the Gaza Strip.

A President George Bush-led government put responsibility for ending the violence on the Palestinian group that controls the Gaza Strip, blaming the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas for breaking the ceasefire.

"The United States strongly condemns the repeated rocket and mortar attacks against Israel and holds Hamas responsible for breaking the ceasefire and for the renewal of violence in Gaza," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said.

Should abortion be a primary agenda for our Secretary of Health and Human Services? Is that the role of this government office?

In a word – no! The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the United States government’s principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.

HHS heads up noble initiatives like preventing diseases, assuring food and drug safety, preventing child abuse and domestic violence, and offering services for older Americans and treatment for those with substance abuse. Nowhere on the list of HHS’s noble deeds did I read about a responsibility – or a right – to aggressively promote abortions.

But that may not matter if Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, President Barack Obama’s pick for this vital office, is confirmed.
