Discerning the Seasons of Your Life
How often do we change seasons in our lives and never take the time to stop and look around and recognize what season we are in? The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes that there is a time for every season and a time for every thing under heaven: a time to plant, a time to sow, a time to build, a time to grow, a time to plow, a time to reap. There are all kinds of times!  However, how do we know what the times and seasons of our life are? Here are three basic ways we can measure the seasons of our lives.

Growing Strong in the Lord
The Spirit of the Lord is saying, “It is time for more spiritual strength and capacity.” Are you willing to do what it takes to develop spiritual muscle?

The Spirit of the Lord is saying, “It is time for more spiritual strength and capacity.” I’m sure this is a welcomed prophetic announcement for Christians with a desire to receive all that Jesus has planned for them. This may even be a confirmation for those with gifts and anointing who realize they need more preparation in order to properly carry their ministries.

The truth is a desire for greater capacity alone will not suffice. Every believer must determine to do whatever it takes to develop inner strength and spiritual capacity so they can be strong in the Lord. That spiritual strength and capacity will enable you to fulfill your destiny in the face of any and every obstacle.

What exactly is spiritual strength? Quite simply, spiritual strength is the ability to carry an enduring heart that follows after God even when His calling or message is not popular at the time (Numbers 14:24). It is the capacity to live in hard spiritual climates when those around you give up, break rank and run from their faith in God. It is the capability to cart the fire of God’s glory according to His will and not your own. Spiritual strength is the endurance beyond the “norm” of moderate Christian living that comes out of pressing into Jesus for more of Him. Jesus said, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6, emphasis added).

Iron versus Iron: Staying Sharp in the Midst of the Battle

Discover how to stay sharp in the midst of the battle against principalities and powers. Living the Christian life is a journey toward maturity in Christ. That’s why Jesus gave His Church a handful of equipping gifts. But the practical aspect of being trained as a skilled servant that moves in rhythm with Christian brothers and sisters, (and husbands, wives, daughters and sons) is not always a textbook experience.

Let’s get real for a moment. Silly putty doesn’t sharpen iron. Plastic doesn’t sharpen iron. Not even sandpaper sharpens iron, although at times you may feel like a fellow believer is aggressively rubbing your soul with sandpaper. No, Solomon in his wisdom tells us that it takes iron to sharpen iron. “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17 NASB). That implies pressure, abrasion, pressure, abrasion, pressure, abrasion, and so on until the knife is sharp.

Spiritual Maturity Lessons From a Pilot's Operating Handbook
Whether you are soaring high amidst the clouds of prosperity, health and wholeness or in danger of nose-diving into the Atlantic Ocean, the Word has it covered. Discover how to avoid a "pilot error" as you soar to the heights of spiritual maturity.

Every pilot needs three things: an aircraft, a license and a Pilot Operating Handbook. Commonly know in aviator circles as a “P.O.H.,” the Pilot Operating Handbook is required aboard every aircraft. That’s because its pages contain critical information about the airplane’s operating limitations. The P.O.H tells us how fast we can fly, how high we can climb, how far we can travel, and how fast we can descend.

As Christians, our P.O.H. is the Word of God. Just as we would never attempt to fly a plane without a P.O.H., we should never attempt to travel anywhere without the Word tucked away in our hearts. After all, Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).

A Christian ascending the heights of spiritual maturity has much in common with the pilot and examining the aviator’s checklist offers a vivid illustration with many parallels to how we can soar safely. For example, the pilot totes an Engine Startup Checklist, a Cold Weather Startup Checklist, and various types of emergency checklists carefully crafted to help the pilot avoid trouble in the sometimes not-so-friendly skies.
