Poll: Majority of Americans Approve of Tea Parties

The April 15 Tax Day Tea Parties protest across the nation was the kind of non-partisan event that united the nation once again. Americans from all walks of life: republicans, democrats and independents, young and old from all races voiced their disapproval of Congress and the Obama administration.

A new Rasmussen Poll reveals Fifty-one percent (51%) of Americans have a favorable view of the “tea parties” held nationwide last week, including 32% who say their view of the events is Very favorable. Thirty-three percent (33%) hold an unfavorable opinion of the tea parties according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Fifteen percent (15%) are not sure.

While half the nation has a favorable opinion of last Wednesday’s events, the nation’s Political Class has a much dimmer view—just 13% of the political elite offered even a somewhat favorable assessment while 81% said the opposite.

The liberal media maliciously attempted to downplay the tax day tea parties as not being "an accurate representation of public sentiment," a NY Times columnist wrote.

More recently, activist/actress Janeane Garofalo mocked tax day tea party protesters calling them, "racist rednecks." Here is the transcript of her rant from MSNBC's Keith Olbermann's show:

"Thank you. You know, there's nothing more interesting than seeing a bunch of racists become confused and angry at a speech they're not quite certain what he's saying. It sounds right and then it doesn't make sense. Which, let's be very honest about what this is about. It's not about bashing Democrats, it's not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston tea party was about, they don't know their history at all. This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. And there is no way around that. And you know, you can tell these type of right wingers anything and they'll believe it, except the truth. You tell them the truth and they become -- it's like showing Frankenstein's monster fire. They become confused, and angry and highly volatile. That guy, causing them feelings they don't know, because their limbic brain, we've discussed this before, the limbic brain inside a right-winger or Republican or conservative or your average white power activist, the limbic brain is much larger in their head space than in a reasonable person, and it's pushing against the frontal lobe. So their synapses are misfiring."

Insulting the American people by calling them "racists rednecks" and dismissing the concerns of hard working, tax paying protesters shows more than that the liberal media is out of touch, they've gone completely mad.

Janeane you said no tea-party member even knew what the Boston Tea Party was about. I noticed you didn't inform us yourself, so allow me to do so please. On May 10, 1773, the British parliament authorized the East India Co., which faced bankruptcy due to corruption and mismanagement, to export a half a million pounds of tea to the American colonies for the purpose of selling it without imposing upon the company the usual duties and tariffs. With these privileges, the company could undersell American merchants and monopolize the colonial tea trade. … On the cold evening of December 16, 1773, a large band of patriots, disguised as Mohawk Indians, burst from the South Meeting House with the spirit of freedom burning in their eyes. The patriots headed towards Griffin’s Wharf and the three ships. … Once the crates were open, the patriots dumped the tea into the sea.
So it's easy enough to see that today's Tea-Party is about the same thing. Vast corruption at high levels. It has not been nor will it ever be about a black man in the White House.
Don't call me prejudice! My wife and I are both white. Yet we took into our own home a 22 year old black man for three months to help him get back on his feet. He slept in our youngest son's bed room. Used our facilities, ate our food, and drove my truck. When he left three months later, he was driving a good used BMW, and had a good job.
Until you've done this, don't talk to me about being a right wing tea bagging terrorist.
I happen to be what most Amerians use to be. A right wing, Bible believing, family loving, God serving American.
With that said, I close with this. I will no longer watch my favorite TV program, 24.
Have a nice day.

True American,
Anthony Williams

Elitest...

Janeane Garofalo is a typical left wing elitest. Everyone is prejudice but the elitest. I quit watching tv several years ago because I got sick of turning on the boob tube and hearing the leftist rhetoric of how my faith makes me an idiot because of the ability to make decisions and know that there are absolutes in this life. Unlike the elitest who need to pay people to think for them and to do things for them, the average American does have the ability to think and decide what is right and wrong. The first Boston Tea Party was a time when Americans cleaned house, it's time again for Americans to clean house. It doesn't matter if the president is black, brown, red or white, bottom line is, he/she is voted into that position by Americans, not the United Nations, not just elitest casting votes. But by hard working, tax paying, law abiding Americans. Garofalo needs to get a touch of reality, as do the other armchair politicians, as well as the politicians that are listening to special interest groups that paid for the elections. WHen was the last time the likes of the Capitol Hill gan, or Hollywood worried about how to feed their children, pay doctor bills, pay the rent or the mortgage? They've had a free ride for way to long. Congress and the president had better start realizing, Americans are beginning to see they're paying for a party they aren't permitted to attend, and the crashers are uniting.
